Travelling can pose risk of injury to your horse, and so it is important to protect your horse as much as possible with protective wear such as travel boots and a tail guard. Travel boots are padded with extra reinforcement around the fetlock and heel, and wide velcro straps to ensure they stay in place during travel. A tail guard protects the top of the tail from rubs, while a tail guard with bag also keeps the end of the tail from becoming stained during travel.
A travel rug such as a fleece or cooler keeps your horse free of dust pre-competition, while a fleece additionally provides a layer of insulation when travelling during the cooler months. A headcollar and lead rope will be essential for securing your horse, with many riders choosing to tie to a bungee for quickness and a safe release.
